GETTING A LAPTOP PURCHASED OUTSIDE INTO CANADA (TORONTO) VALUE 1150 CAD WILL I HAVE TO PAY CUSTOMS DUTY?

I’ve got the Toshiba Laptop we purchased from Saudi Arabia I’m the permanent proprietor of Canada as well as returning from the unfamiliar trip. How most will we have to compensate as etiquette duty? Value is 1150 CAD. Its 9 months old.

    Yes you will have to pay tax. My son received 2 DJ lights today and yes had to pay tax and a customs fee. I believe it was something like $116. His came from the US. I’m pretty sure you have to pay the taxes wherever it comes from though. I have had to pay tax on gifts received from England in the past.

    You will probably have to pay the 13% even though it’s used. That would be Around $149.50. Maybe a little more with the customs duty.

    I think you can just say its my personnel belonging there is no stamp that you had taken it with you when you left .

    if you are returning with the laptop you are entitled to your 750 exemption so the value would only be on the remaining $400. I also believe electronics are duty free so you would only be paying gst and pst…which is 13%
