If you want something “super portable”, get an eee PC / “Netbook”. These are small laptops that are very light and easy to use. They generally run windows XP and only have enough power to do simple tasks like web browsing, word editing, email, etc.
Other than that, you won’t get a “super portable” laptop for very cheap that will do much more.
i think asus is the best cuz they have the low price laptops or get a compaq that 2 brands cost below $1000 so ya or find the low price laptops in com.puter.tv that website has the low price laptops hope this works
mac’s are the best; ignore the best buy commercials.
I hear good things about the HP mini 1000. They’re supposed to be cheap and ultra portable.
Macs are expensive, 13 inches will actually cost you more in the windows world lol. Try for a 14 in. but also look at weight. As long as you don’t plan on playing games, all you need is at least 2gb of ram, vista premium or higher, the rest is up to you. If you want to play games then you’ll spend 1000 if not you can spend about 5-6 tops and be fine for a few years at least. bestbuy.com newegg.com costco.com (costco is awesome, free 2 year warranty and you can return it within 90 days for a full refund if you don’t like it)
A friend of mine recently bought a refurbished Dell XPS 13″ laptop. I told him he was crazy until he showed it to me and let me actually use it. there was nothing to indicate that it was a refurb except for the sticker on the bottom that Dell has to put there. It was a beautiful black and satin finish and it performed like a premium laptop should except it cost him like HALF of retail, and it had every feature that you could think of built-in, anything smaller probably wont have a dvdrw drive built-in. It came with Vista installed, but he’s already running the new pre-release Windows 7 RC version on it with no problems.
The link below should point you to a similar unit around $780.00, but you can search the site for something higher or lower if that isnt quite what you’re looking for.
