Generally you cannot upgrade the processor in a laptop. If you could, it would require soldering and should be done by a repair facility.

processors and bios have to synchronize. Call your favorite
computer store and I think they will tell you; buy a 2nd laptop.
but if yours can be changed, bravo!]

also, your ram is not 2.5 gigs. I think you mean you have
    a 250 gig hard drive.

In order to know, you need to provide the exact make and model of the laptop.

Frankly, laptops generally are not designed to upgrade the CPU or the GPU.

It is possible, but it requires taking almost every screw out of the laptop to get to the processor, and even then there’s not many option for laptop cpu upgrades. All in all, it is not worth it.

yes a 1.4 ghz processor is not adequate for games, and a 2.4 is low end.

because you already have a “nice” laptop, I suggest you to buy a desktop for the games. The reason is, if you buy a laptop good enough for games, it is no longer portable. It will be to big and heavy to carry.
