get a EUROCOM Laptop. they are made in Canada and you have Exellent service and you get to talk to a technician faster than you would get anwhere else. and not only they have great laptops but they are good for the invironment.
you can change the currency to US to look at the prices. but if you are looking ate the price in Canadian and you change it to US in the middle of priceing then all is lost and you have to start over because when you are pring out the laptop in Can.you are always in Can. currency but when you switch to US currency you change all the prices and it lowers your cost by alot.

No, stay away from the off brands. They could be out of business next week. Found a review from PC World Phil. :
Neo Q-Note Empriva 540NX

The Empriva 540NX might seem unexceptional at first glance, being the cheapest notebook in the group, and having a large and bulky shape. There’s more to it than meets the eye. It’s actually designed to be a multimedia notebook. It uses the Windows Media Center operating system, which turns the notebook into an entertainment system that lets you watch TV, videos, and movies, play music, and view pictures. It’s also fitted with a Web cam and a memory card reader.
For a price tag of P55,999, you get a notebook with 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo T2300 processor, 512MB DDR2 and an 80GB SATA hard drive – not bad at all. Gigabit Ethernet, WLAN and Bluetooth provide connectivity, while VGA, S-video, three USB ports, and one FireWire take care of expansion needs. In our tests, this configuration worked well enough, scoring a 188 in MobileMark. The stock 6-cell Li-ion battery that powers it lasts over 2 hours.
The downside to the Empriva 540NX is that it won’t run 3D games smoothly. Its integrated GMA 950 (Intel 945GM Express) chip only uses 64MB of memory, which is too small for 3D heavy apps and games (it couldn’t even run our benchmark software without choking). Playing games will be a hassle with it anyway, because its touchpad and buttons are slow and aren’t very intuitive, so it might be a good idea to get a mouse right after you buy this notebook. If you can live without games though, this Neo would be a fine, budget choice.
