what d’you consider a most appropriate laptop/norebook for a pronounced duration of time which fits my bill < 2000$
i will only make use of it for my propagandize activities, watch movies, as well as fool around a little mid/low-end games

A good one would be a MacBook Pro as they are rather cheap for what you get and you could run either Mac OS X or Windows using Boot Camp
They start at $1,999 USD or if you are a student $1,799 or a refurbished one for $1,699.

There will be a flood of PCs this Christmas to make up for the lack of Vista release last year and great deals for fast non cutting edge duo core processors. Any laptop sold today will be a good purchase in 2 qtr 2008.
For vista home premium suggest a min 2 gigs of ram and enough storage for music, videos and pictures 120 GB.
To ensure you have a fail safe for back up purchase an external hard drive 500 GB is cheap now 99.00 or less and will be cheaper by 2 qtr 2008.
