I’m starting to college in a tumble (this is 2009) as well as we was wondering what have been a little critical things to demeanour for, formed upon knowledge or only technological know-how.
Thanks.

well it depends on what your looking for, if you want speed then look for a laptop that has a big ram (2gb or up), you’ll prob want a big battery life, a full size screen for easy typing, (so no netbooks, like hp mini 1000 or the dell mini) but prob will want a smaller screen (around 13″) so it doesn’t suck up all your battery life. backlit keyboard is VERY helpful for typin at night maybe a big hard drive (although i suggest a laptop with a ssd, which is a solid state drive that will last longer than a normal hard drive) if you want to have microsoft office or whatever. other then that idk
hope this helps!
This is too general of a question. Its like asking “whats the most important feature to look for on a car”?
Well, it depends on the person. I personally do a lot of graphics, movie editing and games, so I look for a high powered video card with plenty of memory.
If you like to travel to places and carry your laptop around, for example, going to the library, friend’s place, class, lounge and do your homework or whatnot. Maybe you should look for a smaller laptop (13″ screen), that way, the laptop is light and portable.
If you like to watch movies, maybe you should look for a big screen (17″) with plenty of hard drive space.
See where I am getting at? So think about what you want your laptop to do, then set a ceiling price, then we can figure it out for you.
Meanwhile, these are some things you should look for in a laptop:
CPU speed (at least dual core 2.0ghz)
Memory RAM (at least 3gb)
Hard drive (more the better, at least 150gb)
screen size
video card (any will be fine, unless you plan on playing games, then you will need a dedicated vid card)
other things to look for as well, but not as important: USB ports, speakers, bluetooth, wireless b/g/n, card reader, operating system, camera.
In my opinion, if you are using the computer primarily for school projects and papers, a mac would be the best laptop to get. The fact that they dont have the virus problems that are going around in force right now helps to make your work more secure. As far as what to look for, if its just a school computer you dont really need to look to far into it. If you want to get a windows pc i would suggest HP or Acer, though for school i would advise looking into a macbook.
