What is the most appropriate laptop brand? (besides the mac)

I’m the college student, we need it for research, internet browsing, music, homework, we fool around the Sims.

What’s the great brand, any recommendations?

    next generation laptops
    from hp
    are awesome

    both hp and dell are pretty good
    personally i like the
    dell has the studio 14z
    but if i were you
    i would wait till october 22-23
    when windows 7 is released
    because after that many kool and affordable laptops
    will be released

    remember you should always get the newest and the best
    for the most affordable price

    check out the link below for top named brands that are cheap, I would like to explain something to you Mac are not the best computer you can get any Intel laptop that will leave the Mac standing at the start line, Mac computer are no different for any other Intel system, Mac have a good marketing system they look eye candy good, but when it comes down to it they are no different from a Dell

    if you can hold out till next month you will see some big price drops when the new Linux laptop systems hit the street,
