The fundamental question here is mac or PC. I fall on the side of PC. Macs are limited in what programs are compatable with them. They are also more expensive.
With PCs, you can get a good laptop (dual core, 2ghz+, 300gb+) for less than $1200. That’s good enough to play every DJ program that I know of.
The real question is wether you are going to use a controler or actually DJ via the keyboard and mouse. Controllers include stuff like the herculese DJ console or Serato’s scratch live with time code vinyl. That’s something else for you to think about.
Again with the computer, anything that is dual core and over 2ghz is good for music. Now, if you want to mix video, that’s a different story.
