Its the apple MacBook no doubt about it check it out here
http://www.apple.com/mac/
macbook 100%. You are virus free, you have a built in webcam, you have airport, you have a fast and easy to use computer, and with the student discount on apple.com you can get it for about 1k. The macbook is also very thin and easy to carry around in a bag, perfect for college use.
hope that helped, sorry I didn’t go in depth with why macs are best, but this post would be really really long if I did!
good luck!
The Apple Macbook or Macbook Pro would be my choice. Another good choice is the Dell Inspiron 1720 with Linux installed. You shouldn’t get Windows because most viruses are targeted for it, and IE isn’t really good about stopping them. As well, Apple and versions of Linux update their software more often, so you don’t have to worry about security holes too much.
It depends what they are going to be using it for. If it’s just going to be for surfing the net and writing reports, any PC based laptop is fine. Dell has some online coupon codes you can find through google to save a few hundred bucks. If they are going to be doing lots of graphic design and video editing stuff then spend the extra money on a Mac Book Pro. I would look at a PC based one first since most college students don’t take that great of care of their laptops.
WELL, it all depenmds on what tey’re using it for, but the mans right. Macbook pro is the best. it got everything you need and more. but if you hate macs (i ahve no idea why so many people do) you should use an HP, (try to get one without vista, or install something liek linux on it, becasue vista is till so incredibally buggy) or if you are really willing to spend the mony on it (and if wont get trashed at some phrat party) get a lenovo think pad, however much worse they are then when IBM made them, they still are great, fast wonderful machines. It all depends on who you are and what you like.
Advantages to each?
The mac, is a mac, and macs do and will always kick butt.
The hp is jsut a general machine and its fast ish and has nice ish geraphics and is a (kinda) dependable machine.
The Thinkpad is fast, has great utilitites, and is a really good all around computer for anyone to use, along with their recent update with media accomodation.
Good luck!
Many of them out there, HP, Dell, Toshiba etc. How much you have determine the configuration you will get. Just be sure that it has wifi for wireless connectivity, Blue tooth for wireless accessories connection, may have web cam for internet communication on vedio conferencing, multi-drive for CD and DVD read and write, then you are ready to go. Have a happy schooling.
