I think toshiba makes the best, most durable laptops out there. I have a 5 year old one at home, has never broken down, still works to this day.
I personally own a toshiba and think it’s wonderful. It’s a t2400 core duo that runs phenomenally quiet and doesn’t get hot. It’s the first laptop that I’ve owned that I can actually put it on my lap and keep it there because it doesn’t get piping hot.
My previous laptop that still runs great(but feels really flimsy) is an Averatec. I’d avoid them. They always seem to skimp on the durability factor.
Costco or Sams is the best place to get a laptop in my opinion. Never get them at a retail chain because they are usually $100-200 more for an equivalent model. Also avoid Sony. They are typically $300 more than than their equivalent.
buy a basic Toshiba satellite, they are very rugged and trouble free. we have about thirty of them used on construction sites and they last longer than any dell or hp
Apple MacBook – It’s really good for surfing the net, talking over a webcam, recording/creating your own music (using GarageBand).
