WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY A LAPTOP?

I’m off to university subsequent year so I’ll substantially need the laptop. Problem is, so most things is entrance out subsequent year generally after the summer (when I’m already in university) similar to USB 3.0 as well as Windows 7. I’m disturbed if we buy the laptop in the summer it will turn archaic in the integrate of months. Should we buy the laptop subsequent summer or wait for until christmas 2009?

Thanks

When the time comes and you have the cash in hand, you simply search around for the best deal. Seeing that Windows is only going beta in January, it may be late next year until it ready for the common folk. (Which I can tell you that it looks pretty good so far.) Wait if you can…

If you plan to wait for buying an electronic gadget especially computers or mobile phones just to get a better model, it going to be a never-ending wait since newer versions keep on coming. The best bet would be to list down your specific requirements and configurations and then find the laptop brand/model that meets those requirements. Having said that, you may wait for the next festive/sale seasons where you can expect some good deals. But with the credit crunch on and prices falling down, you can even buy it tomorrow.

with vista out right now it will be good for a couple years atleast. probally just need a laptop that will support 4 gigs of ram or more. that way if 7 comes out you can download that if want it. i would prefer one now before it comes out. one that will have vista on it. because vista is now pretty good and with 7 being new who knows what kinds of problems will be there tell they fix it as with all new stuff. also get one that is top of the line now. usb3 might come out however usb 2 is pretty good now. even 1.1 is still in use and not outdated. and i am sure 3 wont take over and make it so you cant get anything. a good laptop i suggest is on bestbuy right now. i will put down link. look at it at least. couple mistakes though are the hd says it is 5400 rpm online but it really is 7200 rpm. and the 9800 gs graphics card is more in between th gs and gt. computer and everything reads it as a gt online as it as a gs i called and asked and it is kinda in the middle. and the speed at 2.26 ghz can be bumped up to 2.5 using the extreme turbo clocking. does not hurt to use it. because it was built to allow that. just dont use it on extreme unless you need it. like newer games that require that speed. i play brother in arms on my at normal speed 2.26 and the game says you need 2.6 ghz dual. mine plays it just fine at 2.26. it is also a 512 card that is not integrated. then it takes 2 gigs from the main ram allocated to the video card and the other 2 gigs are shared. it works great and for the price. cant beat the price for what you get.

if you dont invest in memory make sure the computer you invest in will support more memory for later. my bubby got a computer that was 2 gigs of ram. however that is maxed out for his computer. he did not realize it and thought he could upgrade that later. speed is good. and graphics card. try to get a graphics card that is not integrated. that way you can upgrade that later. plus it gives you that much more memory. like my computer has 4 gigs of ram plus an additional 512 for the graphics card. if it is integrated then it may be a 512 graphics card but that is taking from your ram. so you would have 3.5 gigs of ram. you actually have 4 gigs but whatever your graphics card uses it takes. mine will take away from the ram if i use more then the 512. anyways though. if you get the top of the line now in a couple years it will be in the middle to the bottom. i had my other laptop for 5 years now and it is now at the bottom. and even then it is still decent.

Depends on when you’ll need it (remember Windows 7 will likely be full of bugs and you never know when a production ready release will be available). I get all my laptops from Dell. I usually go with the XPS line which have some of the latest specs. You’ll never be able to stay ahead of the curve since no matter what you buy, there will always be something newer coming out.

My advice – spend as much as you can on processor, motherboard/bus speed, next on video card then on hard drive space. Memory is cheap and can always be added later. Also check out this site for coupons/deals if you buy from Dell:

    Good luck!
