If you’re just using it for school, mac is more catered towards the creative minded with free time to use its features. You’re paying for more than you’ll need, meaning you’ll sacrifice quality or quantity of the things you do need. It’s also not as compatible with a lot of software out there.
If you just want the best bang for the buck for a school laptop, then go to http://www.ibuyknowing.com/redirect/amazon.com/ and type in “netbook” at the top. It’s excellent for students.
As for a complete computer, go to the same link and type “hp pavilion” and you’ll see HP’s line of fully functional computers that will likely satisfy all your needs across the board for a great price, rather than specifically targeting students.
The Mac offers really awesome slide designs for PowerPoint and has many great features that are both creative and very fun.
PhotoBooth is a really fun app that you use with the built in iSight Camera.
Pages is similar to Microsoft Word but it is free and comes pre installed on all Mac’s.
Numbers is similar to Microsoft Excel but it is free and pre installed
This would be a great school laptop and it would be very fun to play with.
This would give the edge to your classmates when you have projects that require you to make a PowerPoint.
I would choose the MacBook over the Sony Visio.
