For school, we have to write in the writers notebook, my clergyman calls it the ” Best Friend” we do not have anything to write about. What should we write about?

ANYTHING!! Seriously, all good writers have notebooks with them at all time. it’s called your best friend becasue in it you can put absolutely anything; it’s the equivalent of talking to someone… but being completely free to delve in to your own mind. anything that comes in your head. single words, ideas, quotes that you have heard, conversations you hear on the bus, song lyrics, poems anything. the point of it is to have a book full of inspiration and basically the littlest thing can inspire something huge!
Is there a certain theme or thing that you’re required to write about?
If not, you could keep a sort-of diary of your life. Write down anything that inspires you: a person, a leaf, a flower, a song, a quote, an idea…anything that you would like to have written down.
Hope this gives you some ideas! Plus, it’d be fun to go back later on and read it to see what you were thinking and what you had to say.
Simple. Your daily life.
I know of at least one woman who is raking in the dough by being sure to mention the brand-name of each piece of clothing her characters wear.
I read a book of hers, and after getting used to the style, to such a paragraph-stopper as these brand-names, I even thought it somewhat amusing.
See? If Lisi Harrison can write brand-names on every single page, and whatever put-downs enter her head or were over-heard, and the most broad of strokes to paint commercialized pictures of location… and make money with it–
Think of what you and your notebook can do– You can write up clothes, hair-styles, appearances, likes, dislikes, one-liners, two words that rhyme… You can write absolutely anything.
And I hope you reach deeper than my sample, too. But you don’t even have to do that.
The notebook is yours.
Luck–
Write about anything you want. Make lists of your favorite books, songs, movies. Write an anecdote. Write your opinion about a world issue. Write about your favorite book. Write about how you have no ideas for your writer’s notebook.
